  • Resurrection Stories: Healed | POUMC

Resurrection Stories: Healed Mark 5: 24-34 <-- back Mark 5: 24-34 Illness of mind, body, or spirit can sap us of our life passion and energy. Sometimes illness can change the course of our lives forever, asking us to adapt in ways we never imagined. And while illness is not visited upon anyone by God's design, sometimes limitations open our eyes to other possibilities. We will look for a different perspective on how we deal with any life-altering situation. Previous Next

Resurrection Stories Watch Resurrection Stories: Found April 14, 2024 John 14: 18-28 What is it like to literally not have a home, a place to lay your head at night? "Homeless" can also mean a sense of not feeling "at home," lacking a feeling of belonging, feeling alone even in the midst of others. So many in this world are isolated. How can we find, and offer each other "home" with the assurance of the presence of God and a beloved community? Watch Resurrection Stories: Freed April 7, 2024 Acts 16: 16-34 We may be imprisoned by many things. Jesus' declaration that he came to "set the prisoner free" can be interpreted for all of us, whether or not we've ever experienced being behind literal prison bars. Each of us can step into freedom from whatever binds us. Watch Resurrection Stories: Raised March 31, 2024 John 11 No matter how dead you feel inside, or how dead your life dreams may feel, God is making a way for you.

  • Good Enough

Good Enough Watch You are a group project March 24, 2024 We are created for interdependence. So all our hiding and pretending that we are “perfectly fine” all on our own just won’t work. Get on the donkey when you need to and let people lay down their cloaks for you and make some noise for you. ‘Cause you know you’ll do it for them too when the chips are down. Watch We Are Fragile March 17, 2024 Philippians 3: 4b-14, John 12: 1-8 Guilt, shame, and fear of being seen as a failure can leave us wallowing in the pig pen. Our delusions of a perfectible life keep us disappointed in ourselves. Truth is, life is a big ole risk every single day and facing whatever each day holds is not only good enough, but worthy of love and grace. Watch We Often Believe We Are the Problem March 10, 2024 2 Corinthians 5: 16-21, Luke 15: 1-3, 11b-32 Guilt, shame, and fear of being seen as a failure can leave us wallowing in the pig pen. Our delusions of a perfectible life keep us disappointed in ourselves. Truth is, life is a big ole risk every single day and facing whatever each day holds is not only good enough, but worthy of love and grace. Watch Lots of Things Can Be Medicine March 3, 2024 Isiah 55: 1-9, 1 Corinthians 10: 1-13, Luke 13: 1-9 Lying fallow and getting fertilized with laughter and tears at the nasty stuff of life can help heal what ails us and that is sometimes productive enough. Watch So Much is Out of Control February 25, 2024 Philippians 3: 17- 4:1, Luke 13: 31-35 What if we could let go of needing all things and all people to be "just so" and instead learn to dance with the unfolding of that which is not ours to control? Watch Ordinary lives can be holy February 18, 2024 Romans 10: 8b-13, Luke 4: 1-13 What are the temptations that catch your ear, singing out promises that your life should be more special than it is? What if ordinary life is already holy–as is?

View worship services in this series Emerge April 9, 2023 - May 28, 2023 Butterflies are a long-standing symbol of resurrection. This series starts with the caterpillar and chrysalis — the beginning of the journey of transformation — and affirms the darkness as good for birthing new things. The theme moves slowly over the weeks, allowing us to think in incremental steps about what we can learn spiritually from the process of the butterfly forming, cracking its chrysalis, pushing outward, hanging to let wings dry, letting go, and finally daring to fly. Along the way, various stories of faith help us see how God’s people have always been dealing with transformation and issues of fear, trust, and letting go. We’re all human, after all, and transformation is inevitable. May this series point us toward the assurance that we are never alone in this journey View worship services in this series Holy Vessels Feb 22, 2023 - April 6, 2023 Each of us is created a precious and holy vessel of embodied love; sometimes we become shattered. Reflecting the Sacred Joy: Sacred Space Isaiah 35: 1-10, Luke 1: 46b-55 <-- back Isaiah 35: 1-10, Luke 1: 46b-55 Mary’s womb becomes a sacred space for the gestation of grace that moves into, and is transforming, the world.
